MIPIM-2010. The results of work of the first day of the exhibition

The international investment exhibition MIPIM-2010 that will last even three days has begun its work on March 16 in Cannes. Russian participants show enviable stability by quantity of stands and participants.

“Less than18 000 persons were present at the exhibition last year, and more than 18 000 persons have already arrived there yesterday. We suppose that some more hundreds players of the market of the real estate will join us next three days. The number of Russian representatives was as much as last year, but the size of stands of Russian representatives became more”, - Fabrice Rosi, the representative of Reed Midem said.

The stability and optimistic spirit are shown by traditional participants of the exhibition: Moscow government, the administration of Krasnodar territory and the Ministry of economic development of the Russian Federation. According to Vladimir Resin, the first deputy of Moscow mayor in the government of Moscow, the head of the complex of architecture, building, development and reconstruction of Moscow, “Moscow is presented at the exhibition for 15 years and many investors have learnt Moscow for that time, many Moscow businessmen have found partners among participants of MIPIM.

However, the heads of 18 regions of the Russian Federation count to involve the foreign investments this year. They represent the scale infrastructural projects demanding mullions-strong investments.

“We turned out practice, experience and the most important thing – reputation. They will allow us to find investors today who will participate in realization of Olympic programs that are designated in addition to federal financing and in building of hotel complexes”, - Dzhambulat Hatuov, the first vice-governor of Krasnodar territory told about the plans.

The participants of Russian market of the real estate see restoration first signs today. However, it is reserved optimism. “We observe good volume of transactions and interest to Russia from the beginning of 2010. Interest is not the general as was earlier, but it is more dot”, - Charles Bude, the operating director of Jones Lang LaSalle, Russia and the CIS said.

However, priorities of investors extend in a greater degree on the European markets today. The focus covers only the capital in Russia. According to Rustem Gareev, the senior vice-president of Heitman in Russia, “investors have switched the attention to countries of Western Europe that give attractive enough possibilities for investment”.

“Taking the crisis into account it was necessary to make amendments concerning geography where we invest. If before the crisis, we looked practically at all Russia, now it is Moscow and St. Petersburg. When the restoration will start, first it will start in these two cities. Russian market is about 15-20 years, therefore there are very few quality objects that would be interesting to institutional investors and the most important thing that they would be exposed on sale”, - mister Gareev speaks.

The market used to live in new conditions. Even the investors are positive in the expectations this year. However, they do not look more at the market through pink glasses. Emmanuel Blouin, the operating partner of Esterel Capital, considers that if people plan, it is a good indicator of restoration.

It is visible that players of the market have coped with a shock and are ready to search for possibilities, playing thus by new rules on Azure coast today.
