Bovis Lend Lease are finishing works on the Aeroflot greenfield Terminal 3 project in the International Airport Sheremetyevo.

On 15 November 2009 Aeroflot have already launched first flights to Sochi and Vladivostok.
By February 6, 2010 Aeroflot intend to transfer to the new Terminal 3 facility all their flights from the Sheremetyevo Terminal C, Terminal 1 and Temrinal 2, i.e. 110 international, domestic and SkyTeam flights.
The 12 M pax/annum Terminal 3 project with a new terminal, apron and engineering infrastructure includes as follows:

170 000 m2 Terminal building;
Approx 350 000 m2 apron with apron infrastructure;
Multilevel car park for 3 400 spaces;
Engineering infrastructure with independent water treatment and power distribution centres;
Road/flyover junction connection the new Terminal with other Sheremetyevo airport terminals and the Mezhdunarodnoye highway.

The general concept design was developed by airport design specialists of renowned ADPI (France) with the architectural design developed by Dm. Pshenichnikov & Partners under the guidance of the architect Dimitry Pshenichnikov.

Bovis Lend Lease acted on the project as the full-scale Project / Construction Manager including the Technical Supervisor role. Bovis Lend Lease involvement in the project started with selection of the General Designer with further management of the General Contractor and trade subcontractor activities, concurrent fulfillment of the Technical Supervisor / Design Manager role and final project commissioning and clearing for operation.

The General Contractor was selected through an international tender and under Bovis Lend Lease management. Selection criteria were rigid and an independent audit confirmed that the tender process was arranged and held by Bovis Lend Lease in an appropriate and independent manner and in full compliance with international and Russian standards.

The General Contractor tender was awarded to ENKA (Turkey) who were also entrusted detail design development.

Даа...терминал получился шикарный. Когда смотрю на его фото, кажется, что это не в России. Просто наверно привыкла к старому Шереметьево.. Вообще так бы все терминалы переделать или посторить новые, какая красота была бы тогда. Ну тут конечно заслуга Аэрофлота, все же их инициатива.

Well, the bottom line is whether these architectural achievements will reshuffle the rank of Sheremetyevo compared to the other Russian airports in Moscow. In other words, will Sheremetyevo take the lead over Domodedovo?
