Castorama came to Nizhniy Novgorod 07.12.2009

First Castorama hypermarket in Nizhny Novgorod region was open on 5 December, 2009 at an opening ceremony attended by the Governor or Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev, Property Director at Castorama Russia Michael Bjorklund and the General Manager of the project developer, Stolitsa Nizhny Group, Oleg Sorokin.

According to Oleg Sorokin, the construction took a little over a year despite the fact the crisis was at full swing. The amount of investments into the construction made 360m rubles and the area of the hypermarket is over 13k sq. m.

The second phase of the project is due to start at the beginning of 2010 and it provides for construction of a food hypermarket, a multiplex, shopping galleries, a food court and a parking lot for 4,000 cars. Total amount of investments raised by Stolitsa Nizhniy for the construction of the second phase will make about 3bn rubles and the area of the phase is over 100k sq. m.
